Background and Thoughts

Let me tell you a little about me so you’ll understand why you should listen to what I have to say. I started as a loan officer with The Associates Home Equity Services (AHES) which was one of the largest and most successful retail mortgage operations in the country, employing thousands of people.

The retail environment was all I knew at the time and I quickly learned the ropes, exceeding all the goals set for me. We utilized a company based leads system that almost all of the loan officers were hooked into like an IV. Thinking outside the box, I went out and cultivated my own business in the community. As soon as I did my business soared! I began winning sales awards in the top 5% most successful Associates loan officers in the country. I was made Vice President shortly after, with my own staff and loan officer team.

When Citigroup merged with The Associates I moved laterally and retained my position. I felt that my work load far exceeded my pay level. I began meeting loan officers, on the wholesale side, who worked for brokers and made at least twice what I made per year. After careful consideration I decided to open my own net branch and used most of my savings to do it. With a new home, a wife, daughter, and a newborn baby boy to support, this was a very difficult decision to make. However, I felt it was the best long term plan for my family. I ended up as a national recruiter and mentor with Carteret mortgage and was very happy for about 7 years. Then, found Gateway Mortgage Group in March of 2008. Since then I haven't looked back. I'm happy offering producing loan officers the ability to earn 100% split as a banker, with good rates, and good support. I operate from a home office and spend as much time with my family as possible. I've seen companies offering 100% and really high fees, so I was skeptical at first.
